DataRace2

 

DataRace2 is a Freeware program that displays race data from the N-Digital Slot car system.   The accuracy of the data displayed is limited by the data being sent by the N-Digital Powerbase.   This is meant as a quick way to display driver position and fuel data on a PC screen.  Unfortunately, in-race lap times are not available, as the Powerbase does not currently provide that information.  Individual fastest lap times can be downloaded at the end of the race, after the proper buttons are pressed on the Powerbase.

Usage:

A typical racing scenario goes as such:

1. Select/enter drivers if necessary
2. Start the race from the Powerbase
3. At the end of the race, press the "Right" Powerbase button to download individual driver data. (The first driver requires two button presses, then another press for each additional driver)
4. Rinse and repeat

Updates:

  • (1/29/2010) Yes, you can use a "USB to Serial adapter", that is how I connect to my laptop.  Just make sure it's got the drivers for your particular windows operating system.

Requirements:
  • N-Digital slot car system.
  • A PC that meets .NET 2.0 Framework hardware requirements
  • Windows XP. (Vista has been reported to work, minus webcam image capture)
  • Requires Microsoft .NET 2.0 framework. (You can also get it from "Windows Update" in your "Internet Explorer")
  • A serial cable to connect form the Ninco Powerbase PS2 to a PC serial port. (See the Cable Building Guide below or contact Jim if you would like him to make you one)
  • A webcam or camera to capture driver photos.  (Tested with Logitech webcams)
